Alpen Capital and Bank Sarasin-Alpen donate AED 250,000 to UNICEF’s relief efforts in Somalia

Alpen Capital along with Bank Sarasin-Alpen donated AED 250,000 to UNICEF to support their relief efforts in famine stricken Southern Somalia. Rohit Walia, Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of Alpen Capital and Bank Sarasin-Alpen Group handed over the cheque to Dr. Ibrahim El Ziq, UNICEF Gulf Area Representative in Dubai on 24^th August, 2011.

The funds were raised through staff contribution and were matched by a corporate donation.

The condition of kids in famine affected areas of Somalia has touched us. I am glad that although we are small in number across locations, all of us came together and were able to raise funds for this urgent cause. ”

UNICEF is in a race against time to assist the thousands of children across the Horn of Africa who have been affected by the current crisis. The donations we have received today will be directed towards providing emergency health kits to malnourished children in South Somalia.”
