Alexandria Governorate signs a cooperation protocol with Microsoft for work automation and the launch of a system to serve citizens
In affirmation of the continuous successes as the government’s partner in technology projects, Microsoft today signed a cooperation protocol with Alexandria governorate with the aim of improving efficiency of its internal workflow. The protocol was signed by Hany El Messiry, Governor of Alexandria and Khaled Abd El Kader, General Manager of Microsoft Egypt.
The governor stressed on the important role played by Microsoft, the world’s technology giant, in cooperation with Ministry of Planning (Ministry of State for Administrative Development). Microsoft provides capabilities to facilitate the governmental work process, owing to its advanced technologies. He pointed out that choosing Microsoft to implement this project was due to its extensive expertise and unlimited activities in the field of advanced technology. The axes of this protocol focus on applying Microsoft’s technologies in the governorate’s correspondence and paperwork as well as reducing the amount of paperwork itself, which will lead to an improvement in gathering, communicating and searching for information among employees. In addition, the governor will be able to follow up with his job tasks while away from his office which will help in accelerating the flow of daily work.
El Messiry said, “Among the tasks that Microsoft technologies will provide is following up with all projects related to the governorate and presenting them in the form of performance indicators to facilitate supervision. It will also provide development and automation of meetings and all documents related as well as following up on events, results and administration and neighborhoods efficiency indicators in the governorate. It will also collect information to upgrade different administrations.” The first stage of this project will be delivered in September and the final stage in December.
Khaled Abd El Kader, General Manager of Microsoft Egypt, expressed his delight due to the governorate’s choice of Microsoft’s technologies and solutions to manage its workflow. This will, without a doubt, reflect directly on the inhabitants and visitors of Alexandria. “One of the tasks assigned to the company is to design a system to serve citizens in the governorate. This aims at providing a mechanism to monitor violations and to report them using the governorate’s website or through the citizen service center on a certain phone number dedicated to receiving complaints and reports of violations and providing immediate solutions for them. This will also provide CEOs with a mechanism to manage the performance of employees and services through a strong report engine,” said Abd El Kader.
He went on to say that the new system will help better receive and deal with citizens’ complaints through the complete automation and integration of the complaints’ system with the governorate’s website. Abd El Kader added that citizens will be able to send and follow up on their complaints online. Complaints will be automatically saved on the Microsoft Dynamics CRM system so that specialized employees can work on them which will result in a faster and more efficient service.
The citizens’ system project will be delivered in the second half of September.
It is worth mentioning that Microsoft Egypt has started coordination with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to implement other projects in the governorate. These projects will focus on providing integrated solutions to automate the violations management system through regulatory supervision on vehicles as well as companies providing cleaning services, in order to track vehicle movements for periodic monitoring and evaluation according to the company’s contracts. This system allows for periodic reports to enable decision makers to follow up on workflow based on organized and accurate information. A project of environmental monitoring was added to allow supervisors to monitor any violations and report them directly to the relevant authorities to take necessary action through smartphones.
These projects fall under the umbrella of the “CityNext” initiative. It is one of Microsoft’s initiatives to develop cities and governorates using smart solutions so as to develop the administrative system and improve the quality of services rendered to citizens using Microsoft’s technology.
