Alain Municipality reviews its journey towards excellence in performance and receives the Municipal Excellence Award

Al Ain Municipality organized the 1^st forum of performance management with the presence of managers and staff of strategic planning and performance management divisions in the municipal system of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The forum had reviewed the special progress Al Ain municipality had achieved in performance management and balanced score cards utilization was illustrated in a presentation during the forum.

Mr. Abdullah Al Darmaki, Performance manager of Al Ain Municipality, highlighted the methodology that was used to develop the strategic plan of the municipality and phases of the project. He also underlined the integration of different plans related to different sectors in municipality based on balance score3 cards and how the municipal system in general could benefit out of the Al Ain municipality success in this field.

Opening the presentation, Al Darmaki explained the challenges the project had faced at the initial stage then he highlighted measures taken to mitigate the risks and challenges.

Mr. Yousef A. Yousef, the Municipal Planning Division Manager at the Department of Municipal Affairs, presented Mr. Abdullah Al Darmaki with the Municipal Excellence Award as a token of appreciation for the efforts exerted by the Al Ain Municipality performance division to implement best practices in strategic planning and the successful implantation of the balance score cards. In return, Al Darmaki highlighted the importance of this forum to support the DMA aspirations to integrate the performance management in the municipal system. According to Al Darmaki, This will lead to optimization of human and financial resources and will lead to better governance in the municipal system.

It is worth mentioning that the municipal system is keen to enhance performance management as a step towards excellence in line with the vision of Abu Dhabi Government to raise the bar of government entities in the ambitious Emirate.
