Al Qamzi Honours ‘Best Service Performance Outlet’ Winners

His Excellency Sami Al Qamzi, Director General of the Department of Economic Development (DED), honoured 17 members of the Dubai Service Excellence Programme (DSES) for being chosen as the ‘Best Service Performance Outlet’ in various retail categories on account of their exceptional customer service and commitment to ethical business practices.
The winners were chosen from more than 2,000 members enrolled in DSES, and included: Nissan, Arabian Automobiles - Deira showroom (in the Automobile Showrooms category), Dubai Islamic Bank - Emirates headquarters branch (Banking Services); Tim Hortons - Jumeirah Centre (Café); Nikai showroom – next to Lamcy Plaza (Electronics); The Bedroom by Intercoil - Mirdif City Centre (Furniture); aswaaq - Nad Al Hamar (Hypermarkets); Jewel Corner - Dubai Festival City Mall (Jewellery); UAE Exchange – Ajman Al Manama branch (Money Exchange Services); La Moda – Dubai Festival City Mall (Opticals); Aster Al Majaz Pharmacy (Pharmacies); Sumo Sushi & Bento – Al Garhoud (Restaurants); aafaq Islamic Finance – DED Al Barsha Mall branch (Services); Dnata Travel – Mercato Shopping Mall (Travel Services); La Vie en Rose – Deerfields Mall (Clothing); Skechers – Abu Dhabi Marina Mall (Footwear); Tamaris – Dubai Festival City Mall (General Retail); Adventure Zone - Galleria Mall (Leisure & Entertainment).
Khalid Al Kassim, Assistant Director General for Economic Affairs in DED, said: “The Business Excellence Department in Dubai DED has been continuously developing the Dubai Service Excellence Scheme categories, and now has consolidated the 18 categories into seven major sectors - Shopping Malls, Specialty Retail Outlets, Fashion, Hypermarkets and General Retail, Services, Health & Wellness, and Hospitality & Entertainment, all of which contribute towards enhancing competition across varied fields and vital sectors.”
DSES witnessed a 66 per cent growth in enrollments in 2017, from 72 organisations in 2016 to 120, thus bringing 193 registered trademarks and 1,815 retail outlets under the Scheme, Al Kassim added. “Since its inception, DSES has had more than 2,000 members, and more than 300 Mystery Shoppers of the Scheme who conducted 3,631 visits to retail outlets during 2017. The Mystery Shoppers are trained to evaluate the participating outlets across eight key factors: Appearance; Comfort, Health and Safety; Policy and Standards; Staff Efficiency, Service Delivery; Cash Counters; Happiness Meter and Facilities for People of Determination.”
Al Kassim also announced that the Business Excellence Department in DED is collaborating with the Dubai Financial Market (DFM) in a ‘Brokers Excellence Rating’ initiative aimed is to classify brokerage firms based on their customer service excellence. The rating will evaluate the communication between brokerage firms and clients across various channels.
DES is striving to spread a culture of customer happiness and promote healthy competition in the rapidly advancing retail and services sectors in Dubai through initiatives such as DSES with the objective of reinforcing Dubai as a preferred business and shopping destination.
