Chairman of the Al Habtoor Group, Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, welcomed Japan’s Consul-General in Dubai, H.E. Matsunaga Daisuke, at the Group’s Head Office on Sunday, September 29, 2013.

The courtesy visit was aimed at deepening business, trade and diplomatic ties between the UAE and Japan.  Also present at the meeting were Mohammed Al Habtoor, Group Vice Chairman and CEO and Paul Rayner, Advisor to the Chairman.

Al Habtoor said, “The Al Habtoor Group has long been a supporter of high quality Japanese products in the region, most notably the Mitsubishi brand.”

Al Habtoor Motors (AHM), one of the flagship companies in the Al Habtoor Group portfolio, has been an exclusive distributor of Japanese Mitsubishi vehicles in the UAE since 1983. With the No.1 market share for Mitsubishi vehicles in world, AHM will soon be opening the world’s largest Mitsubishi showroom in Mussafah, Abu Dhabi.

In addition, the Consul-General informed Al Habtoor about new visa requirements for Emiratis planning on visiting Japan, “Our government is considering granting a three year unlimited entry multi- purpose visa, including business and tourism, for UAE Nationals,” he said.

Al Habtoor said, “I am pleased to see a concerted effort by the Japanese government to encourage visitors to and from Japan. This is good for business and tourism. Strong UAE-Japanese ties are crucial at this time of rapid development and economic growth in Dubai.”
