ADM Constructs More Slipways for Jet Skis, Boats at World-Class Standards
The Abu Dhabi City Municipality (ADM) is progressing with works in two slipways for boats and jet skis at Al Sadr and Al Bahya, Abu Dhabi. The two slipways are expected to be completed in the final quarter of 2018.
The construction of slipways at Al Sadr and Al Bahya is in response to the needs of the community for slipways for boats and jet skis in Abu Dhabi city through involving the privage sector in the development and operation of these facilities.
The slipways at Al Sadr and Al Bahya Project comprises of dry mooring for boats, marina and supporting commercial outlets as well as a four-star hotel. The project is intended to enhance the experience of sea cruisers and generate a regualr income source for the project.
The operation period of the project is set as 20 years starting from the completion of construction works. The cost of Al Sadr Slipway is more than 10 million dirham with an area of about 8,918 square meters, and the floor area is 2,538 square meters.
Al Bahya Slipway cost about 33 million dirham and covers an area of 12,939 square meters over a floor area of 3,022 square meters.
Construction works of the hotel and the permanent slipway of Al Sadr and Al Bahya Slipways are expected to start in September 2017 and the two project toegher with their components are expected to be opened in the last quarter of 2018.
The Municipality has prepared two temporary slipways for boats and jet skis at Al Sadr and Al Bahya in Abu Dhabi and called on the public to use these two slipways pending the completion of the two permanent slipwyas.
The Municipality has also referred a project for constructing two other slipways at Al Hidairiyat and Bawabat Abu Dhabi to Abu Dhabi Services (Musanada), and procedures are now under process. Completion rate has reached 25% in the project which cost about 7.4 m dirhams.
The project stems from the keenness of the Department of Municipal Affairs & Transport as well as the Abu Dhabi City Municipality, to improve the infrastructure and bring it in line with the upswing witnessed by the capital city Abu Dhabi involving the provision of entertainment services at world-class standards. Undertaking such works contributes to the sweeping development and the spreading components of infrastructure across the city. It illustrates the commitment of the Municipality to provide a superb living style and improve the quality of services to make them compatible with the international standards set for these activities.
Among the key objectives of the two projects is to ensure highly convenient services to improve the experience of sea activities enthusiasts and the users of these facilities in the Emirate. They also encourage the safe & responsible use of slipways, link the Emirate with sustainable public facility network for slipways, and provide/maintain safe public facilities for deploying and recovering boats.
Upon the completion of all works as well as the accessories of boats & jet skis, Abu Dhabi city will have abundant slipways enabling sea goers to deploy and recover their boats and jet skis in a proper and safe environment.
