ACT launches Second Phase of Ahl Al Khair (People of Charity) Campaign

Working to alleviating the hardships of Aqaba’s less fortunate communities, Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT), the world’s gateway to Jordan and beyond, recently launched the second phase of its Ahl Al Khair (People of Charity) initiative. 

The initiative includes the City of Aqaba and the surrounding villages, where food packages were delivered to the underprivileged families across the city’s surrounding villages. It also includes the distribution of food, stationary, and clothes coupons for the benefit of deprived families in the City of Aqaba. These coupons can be exchanged by beneficiaries in shops across the City with all relevant transportation expenses paid.  

The campaign’s implementation follows a smaller preparatory step taken last month by ACT’s employees to gather the monetary donations necessary for the organizing of the full charity program. ACT's management then proceeded to double the total amount of donations in an endeavor to bring greater benefits to the community. 

Communications and Public Relations Manager at ACT, Mr. Ihab Alrawashdeh explained that the campaign’s second phase was launched in line with the company’s aims to play a proactive role in local socioeconomic growth endeavors. ACT’s CSR strategy is founded on spearheading projects that provides sustainable long-term benefits to the community. The Company is committed to launching more phases of the campaign in the years to come, inspired by the success this initiative has reaped so far.

In Ramadan last year, ACT launched the first phase of this campaign as one of a series of diversified initiatives aiming to target several less fortunate sectors within the community.
