Abu-Ghazaleh elected first chairman of strategic studies centers network

The founding meeting of the Global Challenges Forum was held in New York after the procedures of its establishment were completed in Geneva as an association that hosts centers and strategic studies and research institutions in the world with the goal of contributing to the much-needed resolutions for existing and future global security challenges.

During the meeting which was hosted by New York State University, the first Board of Trustees was elected and Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh as its first chairman. In addition the meeting set the plan to invite all concerned global strategic research centers to join the Forum.

The two–day event was attended by representatives of strategic research centers of the US, China, India and Europe in addition to others and focused on the work of researchers on the most important challenges, solutions and the Forum's policies.

The meeting is a result of three years of research by a committee that represents 40 strategic research centers worldwide.

The Global Challenges Forum (GCF) was launched in 2010 in Geneva as a unique organization of think tanks, research centers and academic institutions. The GCF will build on a diverse membership and worldwide network to propose solutions to global challenges such as economic security, environmental sustainability, and human well-being.
