Abu Dhabi University showcases 36 undergraduate and postgraduate programs during Najah 2014

Show-casing 36 undergraduate and postgraduate programs offered by its different colleges during NAJAH Education, Training and Careers Exhibition 2014, Abu Dhabi University announced yesterday (28 October) several new programs and initiatives that will be implemented throughout the academic year. Embarking on its second decade since its inception in 2003, the University also announced the launch of several new programs including: the Bachelor of Law in Arabic, the Master of Science in Information Technology, the Master of Law in Arabic, and the Bachelor of Mass Communication in Arabic.

Commenting on the importance of participating in NAJAH 2014, Dr. Nabil Ibrahim Chancellor of Abu Dhabi University explained that the University always looks forward to the annual exhibition as it serves as a platform of communication with prospective students and their parents. “The annual exhibition gives us an opportunity to introduce students to the diverse range of programs offered on both the University’s campuses which have all been designed to meet the needs of human resources for the regional labor market, and allows us to explore further avenues of cooperation with other higher education institutions and various business sectors throughout the UAE. Moreover, this year Abu Dhabi University announced during its participation in NAJAH 2014 the organization of several scientific and research conferences in general education, architecture, engineering, mathematics and sustainability.”

On his part Dr. Aly Nazmy Interim Provost and Dean of ADU’s College of Engineering pointed out that the College recently received international accreditation for three of its programs from the  from the world-renowned Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET. “We are also actively seeking accreditation for the rest of our engineering programs from several specialized global accreditation bodies, so that these programs are ready for accreditation immediately after the graduation of their first batch of students. Moreover, the University continuously monitors the labor market to anticipate its future needs of specialized national cadres before launching any new programs, to ensure that they represent a qualitative addition that serves the development process of the UAE. In this regard, the Aerospace track of our Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering program, has started to attract a lot of interest from students especially with the UAE’s current plans to launch the first Arab unmanned probe to Mars in 2012. ADU’s College of Engineering is also preparing the launch of the 1st International Conference of the CIB Middle East and North Africa Research Network titled ‘Smart, Sustainable and Healthy Cities’ next December,” added Dr. Nazmy. 

Dr. Radwan Al Jarrah Dean of ADU’s College of Arts and Sciences pointed out that the College began attracting the first batch of students in the new Bachelor of Law in Arabic, which was designed to aid in the development of national cadres in the much-revered field of judicial and law practitioners corresponding with the needs of the policy agenda of Abu Dhabi’s Government and its Economic Vision 2030. Dr. Al Jarrah added, “The College has also launched the Master of Law in Arabic and the Bachelor of Mas Communications, which have both been approved by the CAA in the UAE, and will be offered with the fall semester of 2015- 2016.”

 

 “This year, the University College at ADU has introduced the CAA approved new General Education Curriculum,” said Dr. Sreethi Nair Dean of ADU’s University College. “The College is also launching its First General Education Conference for the first time in the UAE to be held from 28 – 29 March 2015, and is set to attract general education professionals from all around the world to present and discuss their views on the “Reforms in General Education”. ADU’s University College has also planned an Information Literacy Campaign, Read & Write week, and Like your Math event for our students.” 

Dean of Abu Dhabi University’s College of Business Administration, Dr. Jacob Chacko explained that the College offers students a choice of 5 undergraduate programs, MBA programs in Finance, Project Management, Supply Chain Management, and Human Resources, a Master of Human Resources program as well as the Doctor of Business Administration. The College of Business is actively pursuing international accreditation from The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International) which is the premier accreditation body for colleges of business worldwide, granting specialized accreditation for business programs at the bachelors, masters, and doctoral levels. “The College of Business Administration is also planning to launch for the first time in the Middle East region the ‘Abu Dhabi Global Summit for Young Entrepreneurs’ in strategic collaboration with ‘We are the Future’. The summit will bring together innovative high school and university students from across the UAE to compete within ADU’s Idea Factor competition by developing an innovative business idea that has a potential to be a sustainable business venture.”

The dream began with the Charter of Abu Dhabi University in the year 2000, After three years of planning, the university opened its doors in September 2003, to an entering class of 1,000 students on its two campuses in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.
