Newly accredited programs, scholarship opportunities and a vibrant multicultural campus life were all elements that were strongly showcased during Abu Dhabi University’s annual Open day on yesterday (Tuesday). More than 750, 11th and 12th graders from 20 high schools in Abu Dhabi participated in the bi-annual popular event that offered high school students the opportunity to learn about the various undergraduate programs ADU has to offer in Business Administration Engineering, and Arts and Sciences. Through vibrant informative workshops, ADU’s Open Day showcased more than 23 undergraduate programs and 13 master degrees that are already offered through the University’s different colleges.

Chancellor of Abu Dhabi University, Dr. Nabil Ibrahim explained that the Open Day is an essential event in ADU’s academic calendar, due to its status as a valuable resource in connecting with high schools and furthering areas of collaboration with them. “Open days represent a platform of communication that introduces high school students to ADU’s enriching and internationally benchmarked campus life.  It also acts as a gateway that offers participating high schools students an in depth glance into our diverse academic programs, that were developed to meet the needs of the labor market and are in accordance with the policy agenda of the Government of Abu Dhabi and its Economic Vision 2030”, explained Dr. Ibrahim.

“Every year, more and more students turn up to participate in ADU’s Open Day events. This speaks volumes to the quality of education offered at the University, and is spurred by great many achievements and milestones that ADU has accomplished during this past academic year 2014 -2015. The College of Business Administration has received the distinct honor of being one of only 5% of the world’s business programs that have earned international accreditation from the prestigious 100 year old Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business –AACSB. The College of Engineering also received international accreditation from the world-renowned Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET for three of its engineering programs and for the third year in a row, Abu Dhabi University has succeeded in entering the ranks of Quacquarelli Symonds’ (QS) top 750 world university rankings. All these achievements have been a furthering impetus in Abu Dhabi University’s positive pursuit of international accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC),” concluded Dr. Ibrahim.

On her part, Laila Kroma, Senior Manager of Admissions, Enrollment and International Relations Department pointed out that the Open Day is one of the activities that ADU’s faculty members always relish, as it opens horizons for engaging high school students and introducing them to the energetic environment of ADU’s collegiate life, its cosmopolitan campus environment, and modern state-of-the-art facilities. “The informative and interactive workshops by College representatives are one of the most sought after events during the University’s Open Day. The majority of high school students participating leave after having successfully identified the fields that they might be interested to pursue during their upcoming university and professional life. Especially since we endeavor to organize these workshops in fields and specializations students relate to, based on information and discussions with their high school career counselors”, Kroma added.
