Abu Dhabi University to launch “Read with ADU” competitions on social media next Sunday

Followers of Abu Dhabi University’s social media pages on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter will have the unique opportunity of participating in several interactive competitions under the theme “Read with ADU” starting next Sunday 17th of July. The competitions are part of the University’s comprehensive celebrations of the 2016 “Year of Reading” nation-wide initiative that aims to promote awareness on the importance of reading in building a generation of scientists, thinkers and innovators who will contribute in the national development process and the UAE’s transition to a knowledge-based economy.
Charles A. Diab Director of ADU’s University Advancement explained that the University was keen to ensure that the SM based competitions are not limited to ADU students, but were designed to attract and encourage the interaction and participation of general members of the community. “With social media becoming the prominent method of communication in the 21st century, we’ve decided to build on our strength as one of the UAE’s prestigious higher education institutions and the nation’s leading University in social media engagement according to Facebook statistics, and tailor these competitions to encourage our followers to be part of the ‘Year of Reading’ drive. We’re hoping that the competitions challenge high school students as well to exploit their summer vacation in exploring broader horizons through reading, whether it's scientific or academic books, literature, biographies, historical books etc” ,added Diab.
Diab pointed out that the SM- based competitions vary in content urging participants to identify a particular author or a specific book or a famous quote, or even get creative with their skills and talents in relating them to reading activities. “We’ve allocated AED 12,000 as awards for the ‘Read with ADU’ competition series, and the amount will be divided and distributed between the winners of each of the competitions”, concluded Diab.
