Abu Dhabi Municipality Concludes 'Our Parks' Campaign 2017

The Abu Dhabi City Municipality (ADM), in collaboration with its strategic partners, has concluded its awareness-raising campaign entitled “Our Parks... Awareness & Recreation” for 2017. The ADM praised the participation and support of its strategic partners and the departments involved in contributing to the success of the campaign and achieving its objectives. The campaign has witnessed a remarkable improvement in the size and diversity of events, and participation of the community, entities and educational institutions.
The campaign was intended to realise the objectives of the Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities aimed at enhancing the social communication and exercising the social responsibilities principles in the protection and preservation of parks and recreational facilities. The initiative was also aimed at fostering the cultural, sports, recreational and environmental aspects of the community. The campaign echoed the Municipality's plan to engage the community's largest segments in protecting utilities as well as service & entertainment facilities, particularly public parks.
The final stage of the campaign began at Belvedere British School, Al Mu’tasem Elementary School for Boys, and Almaharat Private School with the participation of students, students, teachers and parents, and the support of Abu Dhabi Education Council.
This stage of the campaign, which was attended by more than (100) participants, and included several workshops of the administrative, technical and teaching staff. The campaign included workshops and competitions for girl students in school radio with the participation of more than (1200) students, as well as a workshop for Mother’s Council. The campaign has also seen teachers organising workshops, such as Free Atelier for girl students, in which more than 120 students took part. Also, a planting of seedlings workshop was conducted where 300 students were trained on the correct methods of planting seedlings in the soil. The campaign focused on enhancing the educational and awareness aspects of participants, where more than 800 awareness-raising text messages have been sent to parents, besides more than 800 girl students listened in the school radio to an educative information on Our Parks campaign.
The campaign organised a public clean-up campaign in the neighbourhood parks of Khalifa City, carried out by more than 100 girl students. During this campaign, several brochures were distributed to visitors of parks, while more than 200 awareness brochures were distributed to students to hand it over to their parents to elevate the awareness of the family and community on the preservation of parks, recreational facilities and infrastructure components.
The Belvedere School has designed a model of parks and has put a directional sign that calls for preserving parks. It also presented an educative movie about Our Parks attended by more than 500 students participated.
The campaign focused on instilling agricultural skills in students by organising workshops on the correct methods of planting seedlings, as well as a park innovation workshop.
The team of Community Services Division at the Abu Dhabi City Municipality has carried out an awareness programme through the school radio aimed at motivating students to exercise social responsibility and contribute to protecting the components of the infrastructure and public facilities, including recreational facilities. It has also organised an educational and motivational competition for girl students with the participation of the director of the Belvedere School and administrative and teaching staff, to enrich the students about the National Day and recreational facilities.
The students of Mu’tasem Elementary School for Boys presented a play by (Saleh Karama Al Amri) entitled “A Breathing Rose on a Branch, Leave It” marking Our Parks campaign. The students have also presented an evening campaign at Mohammed bin Zayed City Park aimed at educating the public, conducting a questionnaire, and distributing brochures. Participants in the event included Abu Dhabi Education Council, Mu’tasem School, Belvedere British School, BusyBees Company, Mawalif Emirati Volunteering Society, and Big Box Company.
