Abu Dhabi Municipality Calls for Protecting National Flags and Replacing Worn out Ones

The Abu Dhabi City Municipality is calling upon all community members – citizens & residents – as well as organizations, companies, private & public facilities officials, commercial, & industrial and occupational buildings, ranches & farms, rest areas, service stations and others to the importance of upholding the high national values and symbolic implications of the UAE flag through keeping it always hoisted in a high position and well maintained. It also called for replacing damaged flags, or those with fading colours affected by wind, dust and natural elements.  

During an inspection campaign in Al Shahama, The Municipality has noted significant numbers of damaged UAE flags hoisted in roofs of several houses, ranches & farms, and other places in a way that negatively affects the civilized appearance of the city and reflects an image that does not illustrate the symbolic implications and the national value of the UAE flag.

In this context, the Municipality calls on all citizens and residents to take early action towards replacing the flags affected by the sunlight or wind by new ones depicting the sense of belonging and loyalty by maintaining the national flag in a highly fine and bright shape.

The Municipality keeps in high regards the feelings of residents and citizens who hoist the UAE flag above their homes, villas, buildings, commercial centres as well as public facilities, and looks forward with confidence to enhance the sense of national & social responsibility through cooperation with the municipality to preserve this national symbol. In addition to the need to protect it against the vagaries of the weather and to keep it in a well-maintained condition.

The Municipality called for removing flags which were incompatible with the required designs in shape, pattern and design. The protection of the UAE flag and is the responsibility of each, and it is a true manifestation of patriotism and loyalty to the nation. The Municipality, therefore, makes every effort in cooperation with all community members to protect the symbol of the nation and keep it in the best and most elegant image.

The Municipality is periodically checking and assessing all the state flags hoisted in the roofs of homes, villas, buildings and public properties, and carries out campaigns for replacing worn out flags across Abu Dhabi and suburban areas.
