Abu Dhabi Fund for Development honours Internal Excellence Award recipients

His Excellency Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), has announced the recipients of the second cycle of the Internal Excellence Award that honours employees for their meritorious achievements in different categories.  

His Excellency Al Suwaidi distributed the honorary plaques and certificates of appreciation to the winners of each of the six categories during ADFD’s annual ceremony. During the event, several team-building exercises and entertainment activities were held to enhance relations between employees and reinforce the culture of team-work. In addition, an informative video presented an overview of ADFD’s progress and milestones over 45 years of sustainable development work.

Addressing employees during his opening remarks, His Excellency Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi said: “ADFD was established four-and-a-half decades ago by the founding father of the UAE, late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, to support developing countries and enable them to achieve their economic and social development goals. Sheikh Zayed realised the importance of empowering nations and recognised the need to institutionalise development aid to ensure its sustainability through the ages.”

His Excellency added: “ADFD, year-on-year, has significantly grown in reach and impact due to the wise directives of the UAE leadership. Moreover, the dedication from each one of our employees and stakeholders has played an important role in positioning the UAE as a world-class leader that supports developing nations in achieving their development goals.”

He pointed out that the UAE, for the third year running, has been named the world’s top aid donor in a report authored by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) for the years 2014, 2015 and 2016.

Furthermore, the honourees expressed their gratitude and appreciation to senior management and commended ADFD’s efforts to create a positive work environment that stimulates growth, development and creativity.
