The 7th Labor Sports Tournament Kicks Off in Dubai with Thousands of Workers Participating

Dubai is set to host the 7th Labor Sports Tournament on Sunday, September 28, 2025, organized by the Dubai Sports Council, under the theme "Their Happiness is Our Goal". The tournament will run until June 30, 2026, featuring 19 diverse sports competitions with the participation of thousands of male and female workers from various nationalities across different areas of the emirate.

The tournament offers sports activities catering to the diverse cultures, hobbies, and physical abilities of workers, encompassing 14 sports disciplines, including kabaddi, football, basketball, volleyball, arm wrestling, tug of war, badminton, swimming, cricket, marathon, throwball, and cycling. Additionally, the events coincide with national and international occasions such as the UAE National Day, International Workers’ Day.

The tournament kicks off with the men's and women’s badminton championship, held at the Delsco Sports Hall, running until October 12, 2025, with hundreds of participants representing various companies operating in Dubai.

In its seventh edition, the tournament witnesses unprecedented growth in the number of sports, participants, and competition duration, extending over 10 months. The number of sports increased to 14 with the addition of cycling and marathon competitions, while the number of women-specific championships also rose, offering greater participation opportunities for companies and their employees. Competitions are spread across multiple venues within distinguished labor communities in Dubai.

This tournament occupies a prominent place in the annual agenda of the Dubai Sports Council, reflecting the council’s commitment to recognizing the contributions of workers from different nationalities in nation-building and sustainable development. It aims to provide everyone with the opportunity to engage in sports, which is vital for health, happiness, and vitality, positively impacting productivity and morale.

The council’s objectives for organizing this tournament include enhancing workers’ physical fitness, fostering partnerships between government and private institutions, providing opportunities for social interaction, improving working conditions, and promoting recreational and competitive activities. The tournament is organized in collaboration with key national governmental and private institutions, including the Permanent Committee for Labor Affairs in Dubai, Dubai Police, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Ports Security, enhancing institutional synergy and supporting community initiatives targeting workers.
