Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Emirate’s dedicated entity for culture, arts and heritage, has announced the next range of creative children’s workshops in its ongoing ‘SIKKA Around The City’ initiative, which is part of the Authority’s expanded ‘SIKKA Art Fair’ programme that aims to expose new segments of the community to the joys of art. The latest workshops encourage children to express themselves through creative activities including ‘3D Doodling’, ‘Sculpture & Shadow’ and ‘Photograms.’

The free workshops are taking place at City Walk 2 from 4 to 7pm and began on 24th July. They will continue until 27th July and welcome children of five years or over, who will be guided through the workshops by a team of artists who have been expertly trained in creative teaching methodologies. The Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) is also promoting the workshops through a joint collaboration with Dubai Culture that falls under ‘Dubai Summer Surprises’.

The workshops have been designed to ensure that children enjoy an enriching experience while engaging in hands-on art making activities during the summer break, reflecting Dubai Culture’s commitment to supporting and empowering a new creative generation.

Fatma Al Jallaf, Acting Events Manager at Dubai Culture, commented: “Our ‘SIKKA Around The City’ initiative is an exciting extension of the ‘SIKKA Art Fair’ – the flagship event under the Dubai Art Season umbrella. By expanding the fair with a range of creative workshops, we aim to reach as many children as possible in our ongoing efforts to promote art as a means of cultural enhancement. We are constantly working to strengthen the cultural and creative fabric of Dubai, and our workshops do just that by giving children three exciting new ways to unleash their artistic sides.”

At the ‘3D Doodling’ workshop, children can experience the fun of using 3D pens to bring drawings to life by creating free form sculptures, at the ‘Sculpture & Shadow’ workshop they will play with sculpting free-standing human figures and casting shadows, and at the ‘Photograms’ workshop they will discover a new approach to photography.

Dubai Culture aims to enhance Dubai’s cultural scene and draw attention to the Emirate’s rich heritage with a variety of initiatives that take place throughout the year. The Authority’s mandate is to build bridges of constructive dialogue between different civilisations and cultures through enriching initiatives that benefit the Emirate’s citizens, residents and visitors
