Portugal’s Pestana Hotel and Resorts will bid for the construction and management of the Plage Blanche resort in the southern Moroccan region of Guelmim, reported MAP. The project will include 28 hotels and 300 villas valued at €100 million ($98.7 million).
The tender is part of a larger $4.21 billion proposal to select local and foreign partners to develop five seaside tourist resorts on the Mediterranean and the Atlantic coasts. The Azur Plan aims at building up to 50,000 hotel rooms as part of the country's efforts to attract 10 million tourists annually by 2010.
Founded in 1972, Pestana manages hotel properties in Portugal, Brazil and Mozambique. In addition to the Plage Blanche tender, the Group is also considering the purchase of existing hotels in Rabat and Marrakesh. — (menareport.com)
