Palestine: Consumer price index up by 0.2%

Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistic (PCBS) said that the consumer price index numbers in the Palestinian Territory, for the base year (1996=100), reached 151.79 for April 2006, recording an increase by 0.20% compared with March 2006.

 

In a press release issued Sunday, PCBS revealed that it is apparent that prices of the following major groups of expenditure have increased as follows: Transport and communications by 1.26%, Miscellaneous goods and services by 0.84%, Food by 0.08%, Furniture, household goods and services by 0.08% and Medical care by 0.02 %.

 

It added that the Prices of other following major groups of expenditure have declined as follows: Housing by 1.26%, Recreational, cultural goods & services by 0.01%, and Textiles, clothing and footwear by 0.01 %.

 

PCBS concluded that it is apparent that the prices of Gaza Strip have increased by 0.42%, prices in Jerusalem increased by 0.03%. While prices in Remaining West Bank (The West Bank except for those parts of Jerusalem, which were annexed after 1967 occupation by Israel) decreased by 0.01%.
