ALBAWABA – OpenAI, the American artificial intelligence (AI) research organization, has announced the development of a new mobile device powered by AI technologies.

OpenAI new AI mobile device

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, said the company is currently developing artificial intelligence (AI) mobile device.

In an interview with Nikkei Asia, Altman stated that OpenAI is currently working on developing the new device in collaboration with Jony Ive, the British-American designer best known for his work at Apple Inc., where he served as senior vice president of industrial design and chief design officer.

“OpenAI is looking to develop an artificial intelligence-specific device — a move that could bring the largest disruption to tech hardware since the 2007 launch of the iPhone,” Nikkei Asia reported.

The company is set to develop a smart, portable device that could serve as an alternative to traditional smartphones, leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.

Users will be able to control the device using voice commands. Altman further mentioned that the company will develop a dedicated chip for processing artificial intelligence (AI), although no additional details were provided.

“AI needs a new terminal because it changes the way people interact with computers from the ground up. Voice will be the key,” Altman said.
