Oman's oil production in 2000 increased by 5.8 percent from the preceding year, the official ONA news agency reported.
Oil production totaled 349.5 million barrels in 2000 up from 330.2 million barrels in 1999, said ONA quoting statistics from Oman's finance ministry.
During the same time span, the state's oil exports jumped 5.9 percent from 308.8 million barrels in 1999 to 326.8 million barrels in 2000.
China was Oman's largest customer, receiving 114.7 million barrels, followed by Japan with 73.1 million barrels and South Korea with 55.9 million barrels.
The average price of Omani crude was $26.71 per barrel in 2000, up from $17.35 in 1999.
Oman does not participate in OPEC, the international oil cartel, and produces some 900,000 barrels of oil per day.—AFP.
