Construction of the 53.16km, $342 million world-class Southern Expressway project will begin in Oman on September 15, a spokesman for the engineering and contracting giant, Galfar Engineering and Contracting LLC, told the Times of Oman on Sunday.
The official handover of the Southern Expressway site will take place Monday at 12pm in Bausher at the site.
The period of construction is 48 months from September 15, the spokesman added. Three months have already passed, the major portion of which has been used for the work mobilisation.
The project will have 39 structures, comprising bridges and bypasses, and the longest bridge will come up at Al Khoud, the spokesman added.
