Oman is set to outlaw eyeliners imported from India and Pakistan following tests that revealed they contained harmful levels of lead and cadmium in the product, a senior health official said Tuesday, July 17.
"Consultations are underway with the authorities concerned to ban" the harmful eyeliners, commonly known as kohl, said Said Bin Darwish Al-Alawi.
Alawi said laboratory tests showed that some eyeliners were found to contain up to 48 percent lead and 0.002 percent cadmium caused headaches, fatigue, nausea and anemia. ― (AFP, Muscat)
