In a bid to boost tourism in the Ras Al-Hadd district of Oman, the Sultanate recently announced plans to establish a new airport in the port city, located in the province of Sur. The new entity would service commercial flights in the Sharqiyah area and will cater to all types of aircraft, reported ONA.
Oman’s experience in airport privatization has been remarked as the country leads the way in the Gulf region. The government of Oman signed an agreement with an international consortium led by the British Airport Authority (BAA) last November to develop and manage two airports, the Seeb International Airport in Muscat and the Salalah International Airport in Dhufar. — (menareport.com)
