The Omani Ministry of Commerce and Industry has decided to fix the price of regular cement at RO. 1.5 per one cement bag in wilayats other than those in Muscat and Dhofar Governorates as of 1st September.
The Ministerial decision was made after it had been agreed with cement producers not to hike prices in response to the rise in demand for locally-produced cement.
According to ONA, it was noticed that some retailers charged higher prices on the pretext of a long waiting period for delivery while producing companies adhere to fixed prices.
The decision was aimed at stabilizing cement selling prices in local markets. Producers will be asked to stop supplying retailers who wont abide by the decision. (albawaba.com)
