Oman is planning to launch a huge development project named Al Sawadi development project or "The Blue City". This mega project is to take off with a new group of investors and developers. Formed eight months ago, the company, which will be in charge of this massive tourism and development venture, is called Al Sawadi Investment & Tourism Company (ASIT).
The plan for the 35 sq. km. is entire city development, according to the Times of Oman. To be developed over several phases in the next 10-15 years, The Blue City will include many tourism components - eventually several hotels and tourism attractions, as well as strategic economic development clusters, including in the education, healthcare, sports and marine sectors.
The Blue City is expected to become home for more than 200,000 people.
