Oman to Ease Work Permits for Expats

Procedures for obtaining permits for expatriate manpower though the recently established investment services centre will be streamlined further.

A joint meeting between Dr. Ali bin Masoud Al Sunaidy, Minister of Commerce and Industry and Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser Al Bakri, Minister of Manpower agreed to facilitate and accelerate the procedures of investors for obtaining permits for expatriate manpower though the Investment Services Centre which was recently established within the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. 

The package of facilities though which investors will be able to obtain all necessary permits to start work through the electronic system InvestEasy and under the supervision of Investment Services Centre was also agreed upon.

A number of officials from the two Ministries attended the meeting.

At present the centre is dealing with projects worth more than OMR3 million ($7.8 million) in five sectors listed in the current development plan.
