Oman allocates $50 million to road construction

Oman’s Minister of Transportation recently signed two contracts valued at 19.5 million Omani rials ($50 million) for the construction of two new roads in the Dhahirah region, reported the official ONA news agency. Both roads have a target date of completion for mid-2005. 

 

The Omani Contractor’s Union has been commissioned to construct a 142-kilometer road connecting Tana’am to Ramlat Khailah and the Galfar Engineering and Contracting Company will build a 114-kilometer dual carriageway road from Ibri to Hafait.  

 

According to Omani Minister of Transportation Malik Bin Sulaiman Al-Ma’amari the Tana’am-Ramlat Khailah route is expected to ease the movement of goods and religious pilgrims between the Sultanate and Saudi Arabia and the Ibri-Hafait road with facilitate trade between Oman and the United Arab Emirates. — (menareport.com)
