U.S. President Barack Obama stated that his $787 billion stimulus package is "working exactly as we had anticipated," in an interview with CNN. He also stressed the need for patience among the American public, suggesting that "this was designed to be a two-year plan and not a six-month plan." In his weekly radio address presented this morning, he also stated that "unemployment tends to recover more slowly than other measures of economic activity," as the rate of those without jobs continued to climb upwards of 9.5%. The address came just hours before a CNN interview with U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner in which the 47-year old said that the "biggest thrust" of the economic package would take affect in the latter half of 2009.
