According to <i>Al-Sabaah</i> newspaper, the Iraqi Minister of Water Resources, Mr. Mahdi Abdul-Latif, said that his ministry's different companies had executed a number of modern irrigation projects in Karbalaa. The biggest of these projects is Al-Rashidia Project, which irrigates a total area of 19,000 donoms of orchards and a total area of 20,000 donoms of farms.
The minister also said that his ministry had set up two pumping stations and it is planning to set up another three pumping stations to get rid of the excessive drainage water and rain.
