Nissan Middle East will sponsor the upcoming National Conference of Technology Development, Transfer & Localization under the Patronage of HRH Prince Salman Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, Governor of Riyadh province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Nissan’s sole distributor in the Kingdom, Al Hamrani United Company, is actively involved in Saudization programs and recently announced plans to enhance its work in this field. Nissan Middle East supports the Saudization program that aims to train and empower young Saudi’s to pursue professional careers in new fields such as the automotive industry. Nissan is also actively involved in technology training and expertise transfer in Saudi Arabia via its role in the SJAHI (Saudi-Japanese Automotive Institute) project. Nissan’s role in SJAHI covers areas such as dispatch of Japanese experts for technology transfer, equipment and materials necessary for the implementation of the Project, training in Japan for the Saudi instructors and officials in charge of the Project.
It was such expertise and technology that helped transform Nissan from near-bankruptcy to being the world’s most profitable automaker is now being harnessed to benefit Saudi Arabia’s drive to technological development.
The conference is organized by the Saudi Society for Technology Development and Transfer (SSTDT) on the strength of its proven commitment towards technological expertise issues in the Middle East.
About 350 leaders from government and the private sector are expected to attend. Speakers include top international experts and will cover issues related to technology transfer, licensing, localization programmes, internet security, national innovation systems, and the role of universities in technological development.
Nissan will highlight key advances in motoring technology such as its Xtronic continuously variable transmission system (available on the Nissan Murano SUV), its rear view parking camera (available on the Infiniti Q45 sedan), and the Nissan VQ V6 engine (available on the Nissan Altima sedan) – the only engine to feature in the annual 10 Best Engines list for 11 successive years, ever since the award was first presented.
