New Zealand wants to enter talks for a free trade agreement with the six-nation Gulf Cooperation Council, Trade Minister Phil Goff has stated. The GCC proposed the trade deal during Goff's visit to the region last week.

Goff told National Radio he would take a proposal to open free trade talks with the GCC to the New Zealand cabinet next week. According to the GDN, New Zealand trade with the six Gulf states hits some $300 million per annum.
