Although unemployment amongst Egyptian youth seems rampant at present times, the government is reportedly taking aggressive steps to alleviate the problem. President Husni Mubarak has put the issue at the top of the state agenda, reports Akhbar Al-Yawm.
Resulting from the nation’s limited resources, stated Mubarak, the private sector must play an increasingly large role in the campaign against unemployment. A comprehensive, government subsidized program has been prepared which specifies the necessary funding needed for such a program and ways to implement it.
Under the program, several options for employment would be arranged under government auspices, although not all job posts would be part of the public sector. Approximately 170,000 young graduates are expected to find employment in various state economic and managerial bodies.
The plan would also establish several training programs in about 14 sectors, qualifying graduates to work in a range of governmental and non-governmental occupations. This program is expected to accommodate some 200,000 people.
Furthermore, various development projects for both rural and urban regions of the country could employ an additional 200,000 people. The programs are predicted to create job positions for citizens as well as spurring growth by efficiently utilizing the nation’s vast human resource base. — (MENA Report)
