A Bombardier Q400 and an Airbus 320/321 have joined the Royal Jordanian fleet. Director General/ Executive chief of Royal Jordanian Samir Majali said five other planes of the same types will join Royal Jordanian fleet next year. The aircraft will join the RJ fleet in accordance with the airline's strategic plan of renewal over the next two years.
Just recently Royal Jordanian announced that it had selected V2500-powered International Aero Engines (IAE) to be installed on its six new Airbus aircraft.
All in all, the airline has contracted to acquire two Q400s, through a leasing agreement with the Canadian Bombardier Aerospace, to operate on short-haul routes under the RJ Xpress brand. The first aircraft joined RJ late October. Royal Jordanian is to operate the 74-passenger Q400 aircrafton in its regional routes which include Damascus, Aleppo, Tel Aviv, Aqaba, Sharm El Sheikh and Al Arish.
