With over 27 years of success and over 6.6 million buyers worldwide since its launch in 1980, Volkswagen have now introduced the new Jetta 2.5 litre in the Middle East, which brings a new sense of dynamism and sportiness to its class.
The new Jetta 2.5 litre is a five cylinder direct-injection engine.  It has an output of 110 KW (150 hp), develops a maximum torque of 228 Newton-metres (at 3750 rpm) and delivers a top speed of 205 km/h.  The powerful engine accelerates the Jetta to 100km/h in just 9.3 seconds.  The Jetta 2.5 litre is powered by a 5 speed manual or 6 speed automatic gearbox.

The multitude of changes and advancement in the new Jetta has given the saloon individualism, character and appeal.  The exemplary design of the Jetta and its drive-trains adapted to meet a wide variety of everyday demands makes it a superior class of car.  Its sporty silhouette and the distinctive front view and its sporty radiator grille and high-quality chrome strips give it an enticing look.  The minimal spacing between all the body parts enhanced the elevated quality of its appearance and reduces noise to a minimum.  Elegant details such as the rear view mirror casings, door handles and bumpers, all in the colour of the car body, stylishly round off the superb appearance of the Jetta; an appearance in which every detail is just right.

Exterior
The front section with chrome radiator grille is the most prominent design feature of the Jetta.  For the fifth generation of this model it was essential for the face to reflect the need to be on the move notably more independently, sportier and with elegance.  Stylistically, the V-formed radiator grille shows the deliberate closeness to the new Passat and the Golf GTI, the first two series models of the brand with the new “VW face”.  The result: the front section is cut more sharply, becoming more dynamic and more elegant than ever before.

The new Jetta also features LED (Light Emitting Diodes) taillights which are superior to conventional taillights due to their considerably brighter illumination, faster response time, consume less energy, have a longer lifespan and are not sensitive to bumps.

Interior
The interior of the new Jetta has been characterized by a clear, fresh and stylish design that any sedan would be proud of.  As a standard option, the Trendline entry-level version has four power windows, electrically adjusted and heated door mirrors, semi-automatic Climatic air conditioning system that is specifically designed for the Middle East, central locking with remote control, six airbags, head restraints and three-point seat belts for all five seats and electromechanical power steering. The three-spoke steering wheel is height-and-reach adjustable to adapt perfectly to any seating position.

With a trunk storage volume of 527 litres, 72 litres more than its predecessor, the new Jetta provides a clear plus in storage space.  Standard equipment includes an asymmetrically split folding rear seat backrest that allows a continuous loading surface due to the optimal pivot point of the backrest.  In addition, Jetta Comfortline and Sportline have a factory-installed load through option.  To further improve the maximum length for loads, the passenger seat backrest in the Jetta Trendline and Jetta Comfortline can optionally be folded down completely.

The Jetta has also significantly increased in all dimensions.  The length of the new Jetta has grown by 17.8 cm and now measures 4.55 metres.  The height of the sedan is 1.46 metres.  The five-seater gained 4.6 cm in width.  At the same time the wheelbase grew to 2.58 metres, an increase of 6.5 cm.

Safety
With technical innovations and the highest level of safety and dynamic driving comfort, the new Jetta sets new standards to its segment.  It comes with first class active and passive safety including airbags for driver and passenger as well as side impact protection airbags front and rear; curtain airbags are also standard across the range.  ISOFIX anchors for child seats are provided on the outer rear seats as standard.

The new Jetta also incorporates the latest anti-locking braking system (ABS), and as an option it can include an up to the minute Electronic Stabilization Program (ESP) in-conjunction with counter-steering assistance, including brake assist system with dual rate function and a Traction Control System.

In addition to the Jetta 2.5 litre model, the Jetta 1.6 litre 75 kW (102 hp) model is also available in the Middle East.  Both engines are available as manual and electronic transmissions.
