Instagram update brings new stories features (Meta\ Instagram)

ALBAWABA – Meta has revealed a handful of new features that are coming to make Instagram stories more interactive and trend-making, allowing users to share music, “Reveal” secret stories and create custom stickers.

-    Add Yours Music

Combining the “Add Yours” feature, where users can submit photos of their own as a response to someone else’s Story, with Instagram Music, the new Add Yours Music interactive sticker allows users to share songs with their followers and get music responses in return.

“If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life,” and “what’s your favorite song on X album?” are prompt examples for such stories that bring musical interaction between users.

-    Secret Stories

Possibly the pinnacle of this new Instagram update, where a user would post a Story and a caption, with the caveat of the photo appearing blurred, followers would have to DM the user so they can “Reveal” the context of the Story.

In an interview earlier with Business Insider, head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, stressed the point of DMs being an integral part of Instagram’s experience, saying that the social media app’s popularity has been mostly driven by stories and direct messages.

-    Frames Sticker

Seems like Instagram gives a homage to its photo-sharing roots, with a new Polaroid like sticker that allows users to “spotlight memories” by framing their photos with a caption and a date written on the frames.

The interactive part comes with the requirement of viewers to shake their phone as if they are developing a physical Polaroid image, which in-fact is something that Polaroid advises against but it is considered a nostalgic experience by many, to reveal the posted photo.

-    Custom Stickers

Many WhatsApp users enjoy creating funny custom stickers of their friends and send it to each other as memes, well this feature is coming to Instagram, allowing users to grab a part of a photo or a video and turn it into a sticker they can add to their stories and reels from a custom cutout stickers tab.
