Jordan Telecom has appointed Laurent Mialet as new CEO, who is charged with taking the company into its next phase, ahead of liberalization of the fixed line market in January 2005.
Mialet's arrival from France Telecom's International Division, reaffirms the French company's active interest and commitment to the development of the Jordan Telecom Group. Mialet, who was instrumental in negotiating the acquisition of Jordan Telecom by France Telecom in 2000, joins the company responsible for providing world-class telecommunications services throughout the Kingdom.
As part of the strategy to move Jordan Telecom towards liberalization, Mialet will build on providing more services and making the team more competitive. The strong infrastructure built in the last three years will provide the backbone for the company to be able to sustain competitive pricing and high-quality of services.
Jordan Telecom, established in 1971, is the provider of Jordan's only fixed line network, an ISP, a GSM operator and Internet content delivery services. Jordan Telecom has the exclusivity on fixed line voice and data transport until end of 2004.
The privatization of the company in 1997 and the partnership with France Telecom, in January 2000 have allowed the company to make major investments in the network and services offered. The partnership with France Telecom proved to be the most advanced global telecommunications merger in the Kingdom, paved the way for the government's shares to be the public in the company's IPO at the end of 2002. — (menareport.com)
