A new Dubai-based business group was formed with the backing of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), 11-member representative committee of the Lawyers and Legal Consultants Group. Group members elected the committee by secret ballot at DCCI this week from a list of 17 nominees.
“This is a unique move by DCCI to bring the legal community in Dubai together under one roof to discuss common issues. Each firm will naturally have different concerns and this is an opportunity to address them as a group,” Committee Member Abdul Rahman Lootah said.
He added: “We hope to increase the participation of lawyers for the benefit of everyone, to gain from their experience and to help the DCCI play an active role in identifying and developing legislation relevant to commerce and trade.”
The committee is expected to meet for the first time at the chamber within the next two weeks to elect a chairman, vice-chairman and general secretary. General meetings of the Lawyers and Legal Consultants Group are expected to take place at least three to four times a year. — (menareport.com)
