ALBAWABA - Microsoft is set to introduce a new artificial intelligence assistant, akin to ChatGPT, which will become part of Office applications starting November 1.

This AI tool, named Microsoft 365 Copilot, is designed to summarize meetings conducted on Teams when you're unable to participate, essentially representing you in your absence. Additionally, the tool can generate email drafts, and in mere seconds, produce new documents, graphics, and PowerPoint presentations.

Microsoft believes that this new tool will streamline "tedious" tasks. However, concerns have emerged regarding the potential of such tools to replace human workers.

One of the concerns raised is the possibility of businesses and individuals becoming overly reliant on AI-supported assistance, as highlighted by both European and Chinese AI regulations. These regulations stress the importance of people being informed when tasks are conducted by AI, rather than humans.

Before its official launch, the new Copilot tool was put to the test, and the results were promising. The technology underlying Copilot mirrors that of ChatGPT, an investment that saw Microsoft pour billions of dollars into the developer, OpenAI.

Testing the tool on a Microsoft employee's laptop, Derek Snyder, revealed that it's user-specific, allowing access to both individuals and organizations. Microsoft also assures that data management is conducted securely, and data won't be exploited for the advancement of technology.

The tool also showcased its ability to generate a PowerPoint presentation within 43 seconds based on the content of a Word document, utilizing available images within the document and generating copyright-free images when required, ultimately producing a simple yet effective presentation.
