A 67-kilometer railway constructed between Giza and October 6th City in Egypt was recently set in operation. The new line will run six daily round trips, each lasting approximately 50 minutes. The train running the route will consist of seven cars, with a 2,850-passenger capacity.
The new link is part of a governmental campaign to connect Cairo with its suburbs and the peripheral communities throughout the country. A ceremony held last week marked the inauguration of the project, attended by Egypt’s Minister of Transport Ibrahim Al-Demiri.
Plans to continue the rail tracks to the October 6th airport are underway, as well as plans to inaugurate a new line connecting Al-Shorouk City, Badr City and Suez.
As part of the effort to improve the Egyptian transportation network, a new Japanese metro cart has recently made its first trip on the Al-Marg-Helwan route, one of three new underground lines. ― (MENA Report)
