Ibrahim Dabdoub, the CEO of National Bank of Kuwait (NBK), will deliver the keynote speech at MEED Retail Banking conference to be held on September 17-18, 2002, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The conference is designed to address the needs of the retail banking industry in the Middle East. Dabdoub will give the 30-minute opening address, titled ‘Competing on Personalization’. “While NBK has held the lead in retail banking in Kuwait over the past three decades, it has constantly strived to excel in the retail arena by building a customer value based model” commented Dabdoub.

NBK’s retail banking story over the past two decades is presented as a case study showing the changes in the environment that pressured the bank to reconsider its model and the immediate steps that it took to ensure that the bank was best equipped to excel in the changing environment, according to a bank press release.

National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) was founded in 1952 as the first indigenous bank and the first joint stock company in Kuwait and the Gulf. It is by far the largest financial institution in Kuwait with an effective market dominance in the commercial banking market.
