Nakheel Golf, the world’s leading golf developer, has again shown its support for golf in the region by announcing a major sponsorship deal with the United Arab Emirates Professional Golfers Association Championship.

The sponsorship deal forms an integral part of Nakheel’s strategy to drive Dubai’s ever increasing position as a hub for golfing tourism. Nakheel Golf will lend its name to the prestigious trophy, provide substantial financial support, as well as first-rate prizes for the competition.

David Spencer, Director for Nakheel Golf, said: “Nakheel has great respect for the dedication of the PGA in the region and their commitment to expanding and developing the game. From the clubhouse captain to the Desert Classic champion, Nakheel aims to support golf and the Pros who we believe are integral to the game.

“At Nakheel Golf our aim is to raise awareness of 'Golf in Dubai' on a global platform. This mission will be achieved by developing unique and unforgettable golf courses that provide customers with the very best facilities. We have some exciting and ambitious plans in the pipeline and this important sponsorship deal further illustrates our dedication to golf in the region.”

Launched in October 2004, Nakheel Golf aims to create a collection of golf courses in Dubai that are the best in the world. In collaboration with Greg Norman, Nakheel Golf has already begun work on six prestigious golf courses at Nakheel sites throughout Dubai.

David Spencer added: “Each course has been created with meticulous planning and research, and with advice and guidance from some of the finest golfers the world has ever seen. At Nakheel Golf we aim to provide courses that are innovative yet practical, exclusive yet affordable, but always unique and iconic. I can ensure any golfer who visits a Nakheel golf course that they wil have the most unforgettable golfing experience of their lives.”
