ALBAWABA - As Musk's X faces a possible ban in the UK, the social media platform has gone viral again after suspending the official Twitter account.

The suspension of Twitter's account, which had remained untouched since Musk's acquisition in 2022, sparked a wide variety of reactions, with many users fixated on still referring to the social media platform as "Twitter" in protest of the tech billionaire's rebranding in 2023.

An X user wrote under a post discussing the suspension, "I speak for everyone when I say we still call it Twitter."

Another added, "No matter how hard you try Elon, this app will always be TWITTER."

Elon Musk acquired Twitter for $44 billion in October 2022 and later rebranded the platform to X in 2023. The rebranding was met with criticism, with many describing it as confusing and unnecessary.

Recently, Musk's social media platform has been under fire after users used Grok, the social media platform's AI companion, to generate explicit deepfake images of women and children. This prompted countries such as the UK, Canada, and Australia to discuss the possibility of banning the social media platform.

However, Canadian Liberal MPs assured Canadian netizens that "Canada is not considering a ban on X."

The possible ban sparked mixed reactions among internet users worldwide, with many accusing the three countries of censorship and a breach of free speech.
