Bahrainis at a Muharraq residential block scheduled for demolition, are demanding the new homes they were promised some 30 years ago. According to the GDN, the block of 36 buildings, each containing six two-bedroom flats, was reportedly built in 1975 as temporary housing for applicants for government homes.

It has been directed for demolition because of its condition and nearly 300 residents are going to be moved into new flats in Busaiteen, Umm Al Hassam and Hidd. For their part, the residents insist they deserve houses in Muharraq as they had requested a long time ago.
