The company, which is owned by Chinese company Lenovo, unveiled a flexible smartphone during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, after teasing it in a video last year. The company presented its futuristic vision in the context of highlighting its commitment to showcasing the advancements made in display technology to stand out in the crowded smartphone market.

During the demonstration, a Motorola representative showcased how the phone could bend in various ways to wrap around the wrist or stand on a table. When wrapped around the wrist, the way information is displayed changes. For example, apps appear at the top of the screen. The representative described the mechanism that allows the phone to bend as similar to the functioning of the human spine.
