Egypt’s Orascom Telecom Holding (OTH) and Motorola's Global Telecom Solutions Sector (GTSS), have completed the deployment of OTH's Iraqi mobile services network “Iraqna” on schedule on February 5, 2004.
Initial network deployment provided coverage for Baghdad, which includes 36 sites equipped with Motorola's GSM Horizon macro BTS. Operator Orascom Telecom Iraq (OTI), in which regional operator Orascom Telecom Holding owns a 63 percent share, awarded Motorola the contract to be a main supplier for the Central region for the two-year duration of the network license in October.
Motorola has been working with Orascom for many years, supplying 100 percent of the base stations for Orascom's network in Pakistan and around 50 percent of its joint network with Orange in Egypt. — (menareport.com)
