Morocco’s agribusiness production decreased by 18 percent from April to March with sales also dropping by 23 percent during the same period. The losses were attributed to the deterioration of internal and foreign competitiveness of a number of agribusiness firms, reported the Moroccan Industrial Federation (CGEM).
The agricultural sector plays a key role in the Moroccan economy, employing nearly 40 percent of the 11-million strong local labor force. It contributes, however, only 17 percent of Morocco’s total gross domestic product (GDP). — (menareport.com)
