A recently published report revealed that the value of Morocco’s external trade exchanges amounted to 166 billion Moroccan Dirhams ($15 billion) in the first 10 months of 2001. Morocco’s trade balance deficit hit MD 36 billion (three billion dollars), reported Al-Hayat.
Expatriate worker transfers and external investments totaled MD83.8 billion ($7.6 billion) in the first 10 months of 2001. These revenues enabled Morocco to lower its trade balance deficit in the same year. — (menareport.com)
