The Director General of the Moroccan National Airports Authority, Ahmed Al-Bayaz, was recently quoted by Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper, stating that the Moroccan and Libyan airports authorities had signed an agreement to enlarge and modernize the Sert Airport in Libya. This joint project, worth $100 million, is to be completed by the end of 2001.

This project is not the Moroccan Airports Authority’s first international venture. In 1998, the authority was involved in its first overseas project, as it contributed to building the Gaza International Airport in the Palestinian Authority.

Al-Bayaz stated also that the authority had trained and prepared nearly 160 Palestinian technicians during the years 1997-1999. The authority offered various vocational training courses to the Palestinian technicians in the areas of airport management and operating as well as air navigation. — (Albawaba-MEBG)
