The Professional Grouping of Moroccan Banks (GPBM) will allocate one million dollars to the Morocco 2010 Committee in order to strengthen the Arab state’s bid to host the FIFA World Cup.
GPBM announced the financing scheme after a meeting with the committee’s President Saad Ketanni. The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) will announce the winning bidder on May 15, 2004, reported MAP.
Morocco is one of the five bidding countries who made formal presentations to FIFA at the end of September for the first finals to be held in Africa. The country tried and failed to host the 1994, 1998 and 2006 World Cup competitions. Other nations bidding are Egypt, South Africa, Tunisia and Libya. — (menareport.com)
