International Trade Minister Pierre Pettigrew announced Wednesday, June 20, he would lead a Canadian trade delegation to Turkey and Greece in September.
Pettigrew will be in Ankara for official meetings on September 10 before joining trade mission delegates in Istanbul on September 11; Pettigrew and the trade mission will then travel to Athens for the final two days of the regional swing.
In a statement, Pettigrew noted that Canada's bilateral trade with Turkey increased more than three-fold between 1991 and 2000 while Greece's economy "is expected to continue exceeding the European Union growth average for the foreseeable future." ― (AFP, Ottawa)
